Resilience and the Rural Social Justice Leader

Sun, April 15, 8:15 to 9:45am, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 10

Abstract

Over the last decade, several scholars have proposed frameworks for social justice and equity leadership. In analyzing the commonalities between these various frameworks and their application to rural social justice leadership (Maxwell & Scheurich, 2011) the concept of resiliency, defined for purposes of this study as, “the notion of overcoming adversity” (Hegney, et al., 2007), surfaced as a strong, common theme subsuming and overlapping several other characteristics among the frameworks to the extent that it became the focus of this particular study.
