Toward a Common Faith in Intergenerational Justice

Abstract

In face of unlimited crises in the new millennium, this paper revisits John Dewey’s advocacy of “a common faith.” First, the paper affirms Dewey’s efforts to pursue a common faith by addressing the interconnections between humans and the universe. Next, the paper further extends Dewey’s non-dualistic arguments for “common faith” to explicate how the integration of moral intuition, moral imagination, and epistemic responsibility can play a key role in shaping egalitarian and just inter-generational relationships.
