Abstract

Using the data collected from the Public School Teacher Questionnaire of the 1999-2000 Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS), this study aims to explore the impact of certification status on special educators’ predicted level of retention. This study considers some other major professional and demographic qualifications of the special educators as strong predictors of retention to determine the relative impact of certification status on the retention level of special educators. One-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis are run to examine the impact of each variable on the special educators’ predicted level of retention. The results show that unlike predictor variables, certification status does not have a statistically significant impact on the predicted level of retention of special educators.
