In this study, authors analyze data from the National Study of Postsecondary Faculty to explore whether Asian American and Pacific Islander faculty face a glass ceiling in higher education. Descriptive statistics indicate that Asian American and Pacific Islanders are overrepresented among tenured faculty. However, when various background and professional characteristics are taken into account, Asian American and Pacific Islanders are less likely than Black, Hispanic, and White faculty to attain tenure. The examination calls for more research on Asian American and Pacific Islander faculty and the need to address equity issues facing faculty of color.
