Increased faculty research and publication expectations are rapidly changing for colleges and universities designated as other than high-research institutions. Few studies exist that address this phenomenon and there is limited investigation relative to creating a faculty research culture and the resultant professional development at such institutions. This three-year case study examined the evolution of creating a faculty research culture in a doctoral granting university. Lewin’s change theory served as the theoretical framework. Multiple methods were used including empirical data which was complemented by narratives. Descriptive statistics illustrated the change progression with findings reported in aggregate. The change strategies and ensuing professional development are discussed along with the implications for faculty, administrators, and the universities they serve.
