Abstract

This paper is based on an 18-month research study that focused on sustainable development and living through changing teacher education and teaching in Manitoba. The United Nations declaration of the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) recognized that the creation of a sustainable future requires changes in values, attitudes, and competencies that will allow us to create and sustain the conditions for a particular way of human living for current and future generations and that education plays a central role in achieving them. Though analysis of interviews of both school division personal and university based teacher educators recommendations for action to move forward with education for sustainability at all levels of education will be outlined.
