Mon, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service teachers' orientations towards and use of digital technologies ranging from social media to video games. One objective of the study was to determine if particular patterns of technology orientation and use were predictors of students’ preferences for learning with technology and their views of the importance of technology in their future careers as teachers. Our broader goal was to lay the groundwork for a better understanding of how current teacher education students’ digital media practices might be leveraged in efforts to incorporate new technologies into K-12 education.
