Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the alignment between the state science standards as represented by the state science assessment, and classroom instructional and assessment materials. Materials collected from on-grade (7th) and off-grade (6th & 8th) teachers across a large Midwestern state were used in this analysis. Analysis indicated that teachers’ classroom materials aligned with the state standards across all three grades, but that the distribution of materials from the 7th grade teachers was nearly identical to that of the state science assessment.
