Chinese Language: A Cultivation System and the Universal Characteristics?

Abstract

This paper explores the origin and nature of the Chinese language. It argues that the inventor of the language, Cang Jie （仓颉）， is an enlightened master who understands the deep working of nature, the universe and the human life. Incorporated into the Chinese language are holistic, informational, energy-baring symbols and imageries that point to a life of cultivation, and a universe of virtuous principals. The paper finally pinpoints that the Book of Change, may be the original universal characteristics which in fact are a cultivation system that link human, nature and the universe together. Confucianism and Taoism are also a cultivation system continuing on the tradition of the Chinese language.
