This paper presents the results of two recent evaluations of the largest community schools initiative (CSI) in the United States. Through the analysis of interviews with 42 community school stakeholders, the first evaluation attempted to capture the general factors that contributed to the successful implementation and sustainability of the local model. The resulting factors were summarized in a framework entitled the CSI Implementation and Sustainability Strategy (ISPS). The second evaluation will examine how accurately the ISPS captures the implementation and sustainability of the local model across a range of schools and develop and validate a series of related measures for a rubric to be used by schools and CSI staff.
