Using design-based research methods, the instructors of a large research-intensive university collaborated to redesign Introduction to Technology for Educators. This paper reports how the instructors used the qualitative analysis of the students’ reflections and instructors’ reflections to improve the course. The results of this analysis pinpointed the assignments with the greatest need for updating to be more authentic. The improvements had a positive impact on students’ perception of the relevance of the assignments.
