The purpose of this paper is to document the development of youth leaders in Northern Arizona as they work to build relationships within their institutions. Creating cultural maps, youth identify spaces in their schools and communities that are open and inclusive of their identities or spaces where their identities are heavily policed and their identities are excluded. Using these maps, students work to individually nurture spaces that allow them to engage meaningfully and collectively build key alliances and organize for more equitable and inclusive spaces in their schools and communities.
