Guidelines for Assessing Two Independent Calibration Processes

Abstract

This study examined 10 measures of calibration that are commonly used in metacognitive research and other disciplines. The study addressed two questions: 1) what is the underlying dimensionality of these measures, and 2) Is there a preferred set of measures to use as indices of calibration? The study found that a dual factor was the most parsimonious of the models examined. The study also found that sensitivity and specificity outperformed all other measures, explaining 98% of sample variation.
