Description-Enhanced Assessment for Students With Visual and Print Disabilities

Abstract

While description is currently allowed as an nstruction accommodation, no state permits its use on statewide assessment. This paper presents the results of an investigation by three state departments of education into the use of description as a testing accommodation for students who are blind or have low vision, or those who have a significant reading disability.
