This paper concerns the effects of student evaluations’ of teaching coupled with consultation on high quality versus medium quality teachers’ instructional skills. In total, 7339 students and 75 university teachers participated. Students rated three single lectures with the Instructional Skills Questionnaire (ISQ) during a seven-week course. Teachers were randomly assigned to one of three conditions. The control group (N=25) received ISQ-results after the course. The feedback group (N=24) received ISQ-results shortly after the respective lecture. The feedback and consultation group (N=26) received two consultations based on the ISQ-results in between the rated lectures. Multilevel regression analyses showed a significant improvement for the feedback and consultation group for high quality teachers and no significant improvement for low quality teachers.
