This study investigates the college experiences of Latina graduates with an emphasis on how their social identities (social class, language and generation) influenced their academic success. Through the framework of intersectionality four profiles were developed to better understand within-group variability. These profiles point to different knowledges and skills were used to improve their college experience and achieve their educational goals. Given the individualized nature of Latina’s academic success, this study suggest that, widespread academic success is unlikely without significant institutional changes. Recommendations for practice are also presented. Data sources: pilot study, collective interpretation, and interviews (N=27) with Latinas who graduated from the same liberal arts college in the Midwest.
