This study sought to determine graduates’ perceptions of the extent to which an innovative, cross-disciplinary PhD in educational leadership provided them with the capacity to engage in their own job-embedded transformational learning. The PhD program was designed to prepare students majoring in either school improvement or adult, professional, and community education to assume leadership roles in a variety of settings cutting across the field of education. Graduates of the program serving in leadership roles were interviewed on whether they had been able to transfer what they had learned about transformational learning, praxis, situated learning, and communities of learning to their work settings, and, if so, what aspects of the PhD program had enabled them to do so
