The Cyberspace Curriculum: Navigating The Nexus Between Identity and Learning Online

Abstract

Communicative possibilities have exponentially increased with the proliferation of the internet and, with that increase, information production and output have expanded. The sharing of information is now instantaneous. This instantaneous response now leads us to expect immediacy when using the internet, to ignore geographic boundaries, and to re-envision relational possibilities. In a sense, we expect to find and retrieve information now without regard to spatial location while still in relationship with others (who may not even share the same time zone). This paper explores the internet as curriculum, one implicitly grounded in the nexus between identity and learning.
