Abstract

Abstract
This study demonstrates how two school-wide Title 1 urban elementary schools with decreased funding and high numbers of English Language Learners developed academic success in multiple school performance indicators. The school sites fostered academic success in an era of austerity by implementing a multifaceted approach that employs strategies in the following focus areas 1) Increased parent involvement, 2) Targeted intervention, 3) Data intentionality, 4) Focused professional development, and 4) Promoting a positive school culture. Preliminary results indicate that there was positive growth in all academic indicators. This study is significant because it highlights practical strategies that can be employed at schools with similar demographics.
