The Role of Social Networks in Parent Trust

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the relationship between parent social networks and parent trust in schools. We used data from 381 parents in 56 urban elementary schools in a Midwestern State to test the hypothesis that size of parent social networks in schools has a strong, positive effect on parent trust. Results of thee different multilevel models confirm the hypothesis. Parent social network size had a larger effect on parent trust than school level SES and background characteristics of parents.
