Presenting Teacher Education Research Through the Graphic Novel

Abstract

Over the last academic year, we have endeavored to describe the
results of research conducted in a classroom setting through the
somewhat unconventional form of the graphic novel. Generating a graphic novel as a means of presenting research regarding educational practice and discourse provides more than a documentation or codification of qualitative information. The presentation of research through the graphic novel allows for multiple readings of described scenarios and theories, through which the reader is afforded an opportunity to imaginatively and empathetically create meaning in congress with the text. Through our own phenomonologically derived knowledge of the process of creating the text and the resultant text itself, we have begun to examine the implications of this exciting,
untapped medium.
