Abstract

Too often the findings of educational research are disseminated in forms that are inappropriate for stakeholders. Parents, students, members of the community, and many educators do not have knowledge or access to academic databases where research findings are published. Furthermore, many stakeholders do not have the necessary knowledge or experience to interpret research jargon and terminology.
This paper describes successful examples of arts-based forms, both within and beyond educational fields, that were used to disseminate research findings directly to those who might benefit most. Arts-based representation can make knowledge available in forms easily understood by all stakeholders and can situate knowledge in relevant contexts, thus enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions and take actions appropriate for their individual needs.
