Exploring Religiosity and Spirituality in Urban High Schools

Abstract

Recent publications have highlighted the positive relationship between religious involvement and academic success. This study explores the relationship between religious activities and/or spirituality and factors associated with academic success among Students of Color in five urban California high schools. The purpose of this study is threefold: 1) to explore the relationship between Students of Color and spirituality and religious beliefs 2) to explore the relationship between the academic motivation, academic residency, and future educational aspiration of Student of Colors and their spirituality and religion beliefs? 3) to explore if spirituality and religious beliefs differ by race and gender?
