This demonstration will illustrate digital and drama methods in the context of a collaborative, international, multi-site ethnography, Urban School Performances: The interplay, through live and digital drama, of local- global knowledge about student engagement. We aim to illustrate how these methods generate data and also provoke community engagement. We will specifically demonstrate i) how digital technology enables international research across great geographic/cultural distance and ii) the ways that drama, as both a mode of inquiry and curriculum area, can create pedagogic encounters with various publics. Our illustrations will include wiki, blogs, Adobe Connect, as well as Verbatim theatre, and draw connections between social science methods and a broader interest in public pedagogy regarding questions of youth engagement.
