Complementary Results From Multi-Institutional, Multimethod Research on Scaling Up Simcalc

Abstract

The SimCalc program of research has engaged researchers from multiple institutions in range of empirical methods, ranging from design research to case studies to large-scale experiments. Almost all this research has been conducted in schools. The have been positioned as “complementary methods” and we have indeed found that each deeply informs the other. Some specific examples of SimCalc research findings from different kinds of research will be presented, highlighting how the program’s “big tent” approach yielded more meaningful results.
