Could AERA Do More to Advance the Communication of Research?

Abstract

This panel member, who sits of the AERA Publications Committee, will both present and solicit ideas and support for AERA showing greater leadership in the communication of research in education to the wider and interested public. Among the ideas reviewed will be archiving policies, open access policies, publishing contracts, blog gathering, and article tracking. Both the advantages and the costs will be considered for AERA members, the Association as a whole, and the public at large. The goal of the presentation is to bring gather some level of feedback, however limited by the size of the audience, to share with the AERA Publications Committee, as well as raise general awareness of options and possibilities within this organization's extensive publishing program around the focus of this SIG Communication of Research.
