Spaces for Solidarity: Why Gender Still Matters

Abstract

Dr. Lee will talk about how to explore spaces of solidarity among racialized and Indigenous girls and young women through feminist participatory action research. Drawing from the experiences and research conducted through Anti-dote (a network of racialized Minority and aboriginal girls and women on Southern Vancouver island) I explore the questions: What does the doing and making of spaces of solidarity entail? What do practices of solidarity look like? What ethical challenges does this work create? I will conclude by discussing the continued need to advocate for gendered approaches to research.
