Abstract

Digital video as a tool for preservice teacher education and professional development is steadily being developed and researched. This technology has changed how teachers develop professional competence, because it enables fast and flexible production of vivid feedback about the complex work processes in which they are involved. Evidence is accumulating which indicates that video use can foster change not only in teachers’ thoughts about, but also in their actions during teaching. However, we are only beginning to understand how teachers’ thought translates into action and vice versa as they use video to study their work.The focus of this symposium is on how the use of digital video for preservice teacher education and professional development influences (changes in) teachers’ daily actions.
