Mathematics + Early Childhood = ?

Abstract
In this symposium we will present work from across the globe focused on young children’s mathematical experiences in preschool to explore the questions: What is developmentally appropriate about early mathematics? What kind of early mathematics can be found in developmentally appropriate classrooms? How can we support teachers in understanding and providing developmentally appropriate mathematics in developmentally appropriate ways? The papers represent ongoing projects lead by early educators focusing on the child, the teacher, the curriculum and/or professional development to explore all three.
