Mon, April 16, 8:15 to 9:45am, Pan Pacific, Floor: Restaurant Level, Oceanview 7&8

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session presents major theoretical and conceptual ideas and information that serves the important function of building a foundation for conducting meaningful research on classroom assessment. Four presentations will be made by noted classroom assessment scholars. The presentations will examine the history of classroom assessment research, the impact of learning and motivation theory and research, and the influence of the context created by large-scale, high-stakes tests. Two discussants will provide independent perspectives, and there will be time for audience engagement through questions and discussion. The presentations and session structure will enable session participants to understand more fully how relevant theory and research is important in establishing a classroom assessment research agenda and conducting classroom assessment studies.
