Leading the System-Wide Use of Research to Inform Policy, Program, and Practice

Sun, April 15, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 8&15

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium provides evidence about leading and implementing school improvement strategies in a large Canadian jurisdiction encompassing over 2 million students, almost 5,000 schools and 72 districts and recognized by the OECD as a high achieving and high equity education system. Papers address findings from multiple system-wide strategies and research projects employing mixed methods, including: a multi-component research and evaluation strategy supporting evidence-based educational improvement; system leadership for school-based professional learning through collaborative inquiry; research informing differentiated and targeted supports for schools and school districts; and a state-wide education leadership strategy and school district effectiveness framework.
