Abstract

Abstract
The panelists in this session unveil how the “Permanent War State” is having a detrimental impact on humanity. Their research findings and critical insights have the power to challenge hegemonic assumptions behind the importance of supporting a military-industrial complex and inhumane forms of schooling practices, such as standardized examinations, zero-tolerance policies, and military recruitment. Some panelists will also suggest how critical forms of pedagogies have the potential to challenge the structures, policies, and practices responsible for systemic and personal violence as well as the power to build a culture of peace.
