Session Submission Type: Symposium
Our aim is to elaborate the meaning for education of the social transformation which is now increasingly referred to as the “post secular age” (Taylor, 2007). The post secular turn is about the revival of religion and religiosity on all global social, cultural and political fronts and the change in “the hegemony of the mainstream master narrative of secularization.” However, within this context, the question of education has been scarcely addressed. Our objective is to bring together an international group of researchers and theorists of society and religion, with a special interest in education. Together we hope to draw attention to the different theoretical traditions, which now converge on the post secular social/educational problematic.
