Session Submission Summary

STEM Learning to STEM Careers

Tue, April 17, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton Wall Centre, Floor: Fourth Level, South Galiano

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

The symposium brings together four projects that focus on unique learning environments funded by the National Science Foundation’s Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program. ITEST is a response to the growing demand for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals and to seek solutions to ensure an intellectually sound STEM workforce. The four projects vary by location, grade level, program delivery, research methodologies and learning environments, but coalesce under the overarching goal of engaging students in meaningful STEM content; with the intention to explore the possibilities of careers in STEM related fields. The audience will have opportunities to engage the presenters about their individual projects and the common theme of STEM learning leading to STEM careers.
