Session Submission Type: Symposium
Research advocates that teachers come together on a regular basis and use artifacts of practice, such as video, to inquire into their teaching. It is not intuitive for teachers to know what to look for in video or how to make sense of the complex interactions they observe. The facilitator is critical in ensuring that teachers benefit from using this tool to examine practice. In this symposium, we explore issues of facilitation across single and multi-site PD settings. We consider how facilitators engage teachers and teacher leaders in analyzing video, how they make in the moment decisions to promote teacher learning, and how they maintain the integrity of particular PD models when adapted for local contexts and brought to scale.
