Session Submission Summary

Exploring the Frontiers and Linking Critical Aspects of Assessments in Science

Sun, April 15, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Pan Pacific, Floor: Lobby Level, Oceanview 1&2

Session Submission Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

This symposium gathers a group of experts to discuss the frontiers and examine their connections in science assessment. This collection of nine studies ranges widely from conceptual framework of assessing new aspects of science learning, to studying alternative forms of science assessment, and to empirically verifying construct validity of specific instruments in science learning. What makes this set of presentations unique and coherent is the focus on exploring the connections among cognitive constructs, assessments design, and data modeling. As an interactive session, we expect that the presentations and the interactions between the presenters and the audience will result in important insights in advancing our understanding of measuring students' science knowledge by making interdisciplinary connections and by linking theory and practice.
