Session Submission Summary

The Virtual in Qualitative Research

Sun, April 15, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton Wall Centre, Floor: Lower Lobby Level, North Gulf Islands BCD

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

The purpose of this interactive symposium is to recreate a conference session in which knowledge is virtual, fluid, and implicated in the emergency of new potentials. It is our intention to blend conversations about qualitative research, cognitive experiences of session participants, bodily and social knowing in the form of social media, Tweeting, and available textual and material artifacts located around the presentation space. We will experiment with v/irtual symposium in which spontaneous connections are expected and ‘accident zones’ and connectibility create openings for different ways of knowing, movements, and change. Five presenters will discuss knowledge, learning, community building, and v/irtual in the context of qualitative research methodology. Presenters will alter and modify their presentations based on participants’ ongoing and immediate feedback as provided by Tweets, remarks, notes, movement, and actions. All participants will serve as our discussants.
