Abstract

This interactive session will present the photovoice process of four research teams, who have each uniquely adapted this session’s theme—going above and beyond being faculty, caring, advocacy and passion— through the display of and informal conversations about the display of participant photographs in a gallery setting. We will address the neoliberal higher education environment, in its capacity to increase the pressure on faculty regarding the measurement and appearance of productivity, the consequential narrow glorification and legitimization of faculty work/roles and the tensions related to contradictions between institutional rhetoric and institutional rewards. The session will require co-researchers and conference goers to dialogue about the process of photovoice and the nature of working in university environment.
