Abstract

Individual- and group-level learning phenomena at multiple levels of intervention form a complex, evolving, mutually-dependent relationship requiring suitable methods to study them. Three recent trends in collaborative learning research support this effort: a growing focus on process to understand how groups interact; an interest in time to examine the dynamic flow of participant interactions; researchers connecting levels of analysis. In this session, an interdisciplinary panel will share ideas, perspectives, and crucial decisions made while developing methods to coordinate analyses of individual and group learning. By building a shared understanding of methods and their insights and challenges, we can extend our growing knowledge base on connecting analysis of individual and group dynamics.
