Session Submission Type: Symposium
Historical and contemporary educational experiences of Chicana/Latina students are often ignored or overlooked in traditional research. This symposium brings together Chicana researchers from myriad disciplines to assert the necessity of producing education scholarship that centers Chicana/Latina lives. We offer three distinct papers united in our engagement of cultural intuition (Delgado Bernal, 1998) as a tool for producing research. We allow our experiences and knowledges as students and scholars to inform our strategic decisions to take transdisciplinary approaches and combine multiple critical theoretical frameworks. Those who attend this symposium will participate in a space where topics as diverse as Mexican schools, on-campus conflicts, and sharpie eyebrows are collectively discussed as part of the project to restore humanity to Chicanas’/Latinas’ educational experiences.
