Session Submission Type: Symposium
This symposium presents findings of the largest European study on schooling: INCLUD-ED, within the 6th Framework Program of Research of the European Union. INCLUD-ED has analyzed Successful Educational Actions that overcome educational and social exclusion particularly affecting migrants, ethnic minorities, women, the disable, and youth. This symposium shares some of those SEAs that raise social justice, in particular: (a) types of student grouping and their impact on achievement and inclusion/exclusion; (b) Interactive Groups, a dialogic learning environment that improves learning and social relations; (c) family and community involvement that makes a difference; and (d) dialogic literary gatherings, which improve literacy while tear down elitist walls. The last paper (e) shows how INCLUD-ED findings have already had socio-political impact in Europe.
