Landscapes of Curriculum: Intersections of Place, Sexuality, and Interdisciplinarity in Curriculum Studies

Abstract

This symposium brings together five scholars working from various theoretical, methodological, and regional perspectives to explore ways in which their conceptualizations of place and sexuality have informed and continue to drive their research. The overarching goal of this symposium is to examine conceptions of place as integral aspects of curriculum studies research. The panel will critically interrogate complex intersections of sexuality and place as well as explore social, cultural, psychical scapes of their experiences as academics. Panelists represent a range of diversity in terms of social, cultural, geographic, disciplinary, ethnic, methodological, and gender backgrounds. This provocative symposium makes a significant contribution to curriculum studies research by presenting interdisciplinary, multi-dimensional analyses of regional locales as frameworks from which educators might further explore global landscapes of education.
