Abstract

This symposium brings together scholars who are building and validating assessments of leadership for learning at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Each of these assessment tools may be in different stages of development and implementation, but each effort reveals the dimensions, conditions, and practices of effective school leadership. In addition, each assessment tool has adopted a different theory of action in terms of examining the essential components that indicate exemplary school leadership. Each assessment tool has approached the value and structure of feedback differently. And finally, each assessment has utilized technology in various ways to ensure accessibility to diverse sets of schools, to effectively capture the diverse responses within schools, and to create user-friendly systems for school practitioners.
