Session Submission Type: Demonstration/Performance
This innovative session seeks to engage in dialogue that brings together the teaching social justice empirical research base with the leading for social justice empirical research base in order to grapple with how to enact what is “known” in urban school contexts. Specifically, this session considers Duncan-Andrade’s (2007) scholarship alongside Scheurich and Skrla’s (2003) and Theoharis’ (2009) scholarship and how that scholarship informs one of the most proliferated urban school reform constructs – professional learning communities. The panel will include six scholars who have researched and grappled with various urban educational issues in the Midwest, West, East, South, and Southwest and who are familiar with Duncan-Andrade’s work and the complexities of that work within educational leadership rhetoric.
