Abstract

Educational researchers increasingly use spatial and geographic analysis to understand how learning and culture impact areas where people live, and vice versa. We bring this analysis to the field of environmental and sustainability education in this structured poster session. By highlighting spatial, temporal and geographic research methods and theory, we hope to stimulate a larger conversation about socioecological learning and decision-making and its implications at various scales, from the local to the global. We are also interested in how cultural and natural processes occur in formal and informal education contexts and implications for ecosystem resilience and sustainability. Individually and collectively we investigate the spatial intersections between education and natureculture (Latour, 1993) with varied socioecological and pedagogical implications.
