Abstract

This roundtable explores a number of approaches to prepare teachers to become more effective instructors in urban settings. All the papers explore both theoretical and practical dimensions of teacher education, including developing identity in new teachers, using residency models in urban schools, and specific coursework and field experiences. The papers are unified in how each model focuses on enhancing specific pedagogies and dispositions unique to urban teaching.
