Session Submission Summary

Indigenous Cultures and Knowledge—and Teacher Education

Mon, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

Native or ethnic populations whose cultures and knowledge are inextricably tied to the places from where they come have long been an important part of education. Careful, sensitive research about the role of indigenous knowledge in teacher education improves efforts to prepare educators for the world’s schools and schoolchildren. This roundtable presents papers that illuminate ways to better understand and make productive use of such knowledge in teacher education.
