This session presents research on existing environments repurposed or reframed as contexts for learning and participation, as well as those deliberately designed as learning experiences. The papers highlight the types of activity or participation made possible as a result of these designs, such as representational activity, collaborative creation, scientific practices, new literacies activity, and changed teaching practices.
