Abstract

This session is thematically organized around teachers working with students with diverse perspectives, needs, and experiences. The papers in the session are framed around teachers’ experiences working with these diverse groups of students and accordingly, they focus on teacher responses, their learning, and their interaction with students. An apprenticeship model of teacher education is discussed in one of the papers and language focused teacher education approaches are explored in two of the session’s papers. Teacher knowledge research is present as a common tenet in this session.
