Abstract

Papers in this session present research on innovative ways to prepare literacy and English preservice teachers for K-12 classrooms. The papers explore salient issues facing literacy and English teacher educators and present challenges and supports for preparing preservice teachers to work with increasingly culturally and linguistically diverse student populations. The session will engage audience members in reflection and dialogue about the critical identity work necessary for becoming literacy and English educators in the 21st century.
